The importance of the mother tongue in the life of a child has a deep relation with the expressions of language. The child also shows his mother tongue along with his mother's milk. The language that the child's parents and other brothers will sing, he will also learn the same language. This relationship is not only exemplary but also emotional. The child loves his parents and his parents also love him very much. For this reason, the child learns the language of his parents. This relationship with the mother tongue gradually becomes so deep that whatever he thinks, he thinks in his mother tongue. In the course of time, even after the linguistics of other languages have been learned, it is written in the introduction of the mother tongue which is related to our emotional life, even in an adult environment, in the ease of use of our mother tongue, not in the practice of other languages. It is said that in the court of a king, a great scholar was frightened.
Many Indian languages could be published by the Pandit Va and all these languages fluently. The king asked about the mother tongue of that scholar. That scholar said that there are great scholars in this court, who should tell what is his mother tongue? The king called every scholar of his barber, to solve this problem and asked for a reward for this, but even then, a scholar could not tell the mother tongue of that newcomer. In the end, the Prime Minister of the king took this task upon himself. He called the newcomer to his house. For his great sake. He was fed good food and dishes. At night, he ate a lot of food and slept on a big padded bed. At midnight, when he was fast asleep, the Prime Minister took boiling hot water and put it on his feet. He immediately uttered, "koan mannu tera rahaaya" which means who is teasing me.
The next day, the Prime Minister found in the court that Punjabi was the mother tongue of this scholar. On being asked by the king, Prime Minister narrated the whole incident. This makes it clear that the mother tongue has access to the depths of our unconscious mind.
For all these reasons, it is the opinion of educationists that the child should be educated only through the medium of the mother tongue. The mother tongue should be made the medium of education, there may be other reasons for this. Some of them are given below:
Cultural factors:-
Every child is born in a particular cultural environment. Mother language is an important part of that environment and a means of expression. It is through the mother tongue that the child embraces this cultural environment. The mother tongue is very critical in making the child's initial thoughts. Unlike his cultural environment, he will be unable to accept any such new idea, which cannot be expressed in his mother tongue. If the foreign language is related to a culture that is similar to the culture, such as French culture for an English child, then while learning that new language, the child will have the only difficulty related to language but if the relation of the foreign language, such a Be it from the culture which is completely different in its culture, like English culture for the Indian child, then the difficulties of the child in absorbing that new language will increase. The Sambndhn only will the new language but the same thing with new ideas also applies to older people.
While learning any foreign language, it is very difficult for the child to get possession of foreign vocabulary and express his thoughts in them. When the foreign language was related to a different culture
Is, then the difficulties of the child increase further. He has to express not only new ideas in the mother tongue but also to express his thoughts and feelings in a foreign language. It is very difficult to convert those thoughts and feelings, which are related to one language, into another language. If a person has to do this all the time, then he will not be able to express his sins properly to God. And if a child has to do the same thing in that phase, when he cannot express himself fully even in the mother tongue, then he will never be able to express himself properly.
Educational factor
On educational grounds also it can be said that the mother tongue should remain the medium of instruction in schools for maximum time. By making the mother tongue the medium of education, the difference between the eagle and the school will not remain. When the child starts going to school from home, he gets a completely new environment, which is different from home. Till now he lived in the house with his few siblings, where he had the affection of his mother all the time. But he is found in a large group under the teacher. Now he cannot run as he wants, cannot play, cannot speak. It is said that he should sit silently in peace. He should do as he is told. He should answer the questions that are asked from him. New ideas and new things are liked in front of him and he has to give proof that he has accepted these new ideas, new things as quickly as possible. Everything a child gets is different from home. And if we sometimes see that many children are unable to adapt their sins to this new environment, then there is no point in it. And if the language in which all these new things are kept is different from the mother tongue, then we can estimate very well how much the difficulties of the child will increase.
Regarding the medium of education, the views of Bhishma-Mitra scholars, here we give the views of some scholars, according to which the medium of instruction should be the mother tongue.
Gandhiji
"The mother tongue is as essential for the mental development of man as the milk of the mother for the physical development of the child. The child reads the first text from his mother, so for his mental development, other than his mother tongue, Loading of language, I consider it a sin against the motherland. "
Famous English writer and thinker Belsford
"Only in one language can there be a clear euphemism of our expressions; we can only accept the subtle signs of the words of the same language in a very simple way. This language flows, which we use with our mother's milk In which we express our initial prayers and expressions of joy and mourning. To make another language the medium of instruction is to increase the student's silence unnecessarily Ana does not but paralyze the free movement of his brain. "
Hartog Committee
"Many of us have said that the sarpanch who is educated in the mother tongue, may initially fall behind due to the weakness of English, but because by the mother tongue, in general subjects, it gets more intense, Therefore in the province, he overtakes the boys of Anglo vernacular school.
I m an Australian citizen but we speak English and also many other are speak English what is the difference between them and me
